N.J. Senate passes menu-labeling law

On Jan. 13, New Jersey inched closer to joining the handful of states who require at least some restaurants to label their menus with calorie counts and other nutritional information. Gov. Jon Corzine has said he will sign the bill into law.

The New Jersey Restaurant Association takes credit for expanding the limitations in the bill. For example, the law will apply to chains with more than 20 units, as opposed to the five or more units originally proposed.
